With more than 30 years of information technology experience, Chuck Barkow has worked as a technology consultant, data processing manager, and software analyst. He founded Uniserv Solutions in 1990, and now Brain Power3 in 2008. He consults with enterprise organizations, non-profits, and government agencies within the state of Wisconsin. His clients have included, FIserv, Barber-Colman, American Family Insurance, and several State of Wisconsin agencies.
Mr. Barkow’s expertise is delivering a positive return on investment to his clients through a disciplined approach. He believes that technology is a tool that should serve people rather than people serving the technology. To that end, he has worked with his clients to design systems to improve and enhance their organizations in the most cost-effective manner.
Mr. Barkow worked for Cray Research on the design team that developed the Cray supercomputer used by the U.S. government to predict weather and design nuclear weapons. It was also used by Apple Computers in the design of the Macintosh computer. Barkow went on to work in the systems departments at Modine Manufacturing in Racine, Wisconsin and Data Communications Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Louisiana to become the Data Processing Manager for Lamar Outdoor Advertising – one of the largest outdoor advertising agencies in the United States. At Lamar, Barkow began to apply metrics to information technology and was successful in helping the organization improve its profitability and market position.
Barkow is a graduate of District One Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He and his wife Jill have been married for 21 years. His interests include classical music, wine tasting, and reading about science fiction, leadership, and organizational management.
